Nidhi and Sopan’s Bespoke Wedding at Ananta Udaipur

FUN. COLOURFUL. ELEGANT with a seamless blend of modern elements and traditional nuances was how the young couple wanted their wedding. With its sprawling lawns, gradient pathways and oriental inspired architecture, Ananta Resort, Udaipur served as the perfect location for Nidhi and Sopan’s royal dream destination wedding.

Being a close knit family the couple wanted every guest to be well looked after, pampered and treated like royalties. The celebrations were spread over 3 days and each occasion was planned and executed in great details to ensure that all the customs and rituals were followed, but at the same time there was enough fun element to keep the guests involved and entertained.

The Silver Course Dinner

Since this was the first event of the wedding, the couple wanted a lavish and formal sit down dinner. The decor was kept to a minimum to highlight the inherent beauty of the sprawling lawns and water bodies. Delicate fairy lights strung on trees and frames gave a warm golden glow to the ambience while tables set with fine china and cutlery brought out the richness of the set up . The fragrance of the exotic flowers gracing the tables, the subtle live music in the background and the intoxicating flavours of the mouth watering food had its effect and everyone was tapping their foot and matching their steps to the beats of the music before the night was over.

The Hawaiian Mehendi

A cool breeze and the warmth of the winter sun set the mood for the mehendi hosted in the sprawling lawns of the hotel, while the couple added a twist to the function by making a grand baarat style entry dancing to the beats of the dhol.

Flowers and birds was the theme of the event and was showcased in all elements of the decoration. The pink glow of the sunlight filtering through the sheer fabric of the gazebos, soft diwans covered in rich fabrics and feathery cushions, the delicacy of the flowers filling up the space and all the small details of the decor came together beautifully to create a magnificent backdrop for the function. Round tables with parrot motif tablecloths and chairs draped in bright embroidered covers dotted the grounds allowing the guests to enjoy their meal in comfort while a beautiful pagoda encasing a swing and filled with beautiful birds fashioned out of flowers provided the perfect place for a photo-op.

The Sangeet and Afterparty.

Bamboo ladders delicately wrapped in pastel fabrics and easels studded with flowers created a unique pathway to the sangeet venue. The soothing blue hue of the interiors, the exotic blooms in cut glass vases and ornamental candelabras blended beautifully to highlight the canopy of flowers overhead. The couple made yet another dramatic entry in a chariot led by a group of girls holding diyas, while the simple yet elegant stage detailed with delicate metal frames and flowers provide a beautiful backdrop for the programme. The Desi Hustlers pepped up the event with their music and had everyone on their toes and dancing to their tunes. The revelry continued as the DJ took over making everyone let their hair down and swing to the music late into the night.

Mameru and Sit Down Lunch

Mameru - the simple, traditional and emotional ritual where the bride receives her wedding outfit from her maternal uncle. We wanted the focus to be on the event and the family and kept the decor simple and ethnic to blend in with the sanctity of the function. Richly draped diwans and ornamental flat stools placed under a ceiling covered with flowers were used for an elegant and traditional sit down lunch.

The Haldi

Bright and sunny yellow beautifully complemented by aquamarine blue was the look chosen for this event. From the fabrics of the canopy, to the dreamcatchers beautifying them, from the geometrical frames to the table lay out, everything came alive in these colours.The couple wanted the guests to have fun, and everyone had a blast shooting the ballon, running the lemon race, passing the hoops or soaking in the sun with a relaxing foot massage as they lounged near the pool. Needless to say their smiles were as bright as the day.

The Baarat

Ever heard of two baraats? Well this wedding had it!. Sopan arrived as royally as a king, riding a horse and surrounded by his entourage of friends while Nidhi rode in a chariot fit for a queen as her family matched their beats to the tunes of the band. The couple walked into the wedding arena hand in hand under a blanket of flowers held up their loved ones.

The Wedding

The family wanted this sacred ritual to be solemnised amidst the bright and vibrant colours of traditional Indian decor. The design of this event revolved around incorporating the lush fullness of marigold flowers in each element. Brass lotus stands lent their richness while elephants fashioned out of leaves signified royalty and added a dash of green. Large scale installations studded with lamps gave a warm golden glow to the ambience and the guest were left mesmerized by the beauty that met their eyes.

The Reception

Words fall short to describe the magnificence of this masterpiece creation. The aim was to create a larger than life fairyland that enchanted the guest from the moment they arrived at the venue. Large walls created with green foliage and delicate white flowers teamed with a series of blossom spangled archways led the guests into a world of beauty. Opulent chandeliers, glistering white marquees and a palace style ornate gate left everyone awestruck with their sheer beauty and grace. Tall arches decorated with ornate carving formed the backdrop for the reception stage and complemented the elegance of the decor. The atmosphere was further electrified by the soul stirring classical music played by the symphony orchestra.

Every event in this wedding has some aspects which were fun and unique just like the couple. Conceptualisation and designing of the decor, planning the elaborate menu and executing all the activities had to be undertaken with utmost care to ensure that all requirements of the clients were met to the fullest. The laughter of the guests as they participated in each event, the smiles of the family and the glow of contentment on the couples face stands testimony to another job well done.
